Choose from three high-paying career paths to help build your community! Local 137’s five-year apprenticeship program trains plumbers, steamfitters and HVAC service techs. Apprentices earn while they learn with free education, building a debt-free path to a skilled, high-demand career.

Select your experience level to get started. Those with experience of 5 years or more have the option to test out of the apprenticeship program.

Our members build and maintain the systems that keep hospitals, schools, power plants and local businesses throughout Central Illinois running — and they earn high wages doing it. As a Local 137 apprentice, you’ll get paid to learn on the job and build a debt-free path into a lifelong career.

WHAT IT TAKES

Your future looks bright!

Before acceptance into our apprenticeship program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 17 years or older to apply
  • Provide copy of birth certificate
  • Provide high school diploma and transcripts or GED with scores
  • Have at least one year of algebra or geometry with a passing grade
  • Present a valid driver’s license or photo ID
  • Copy of military discharge form DD-214, if applicable
