Local 137 Apprenticeship Application Process

We solicit applications from January 1 through December 31 each year. All applicants must complete the ACT WorkKeys (NCRC) assessment and submit results to Local 137 by January 31, 2025.

The ACT WorkKeys assessments can be taken at LLCC or other approved locations. Applicants who achieve the minimum score of Level 5 on the math assessment will be invited to interview. Interviews typically take place in March.

Applicants are ranked and accepted into the apprenticeship program based on ranking and availability of work each year. Applicants remain on the eligibility list for a minimum of one year and may request updates annually.

All applications and required documents must be submitted by December 31, 2024 to be considered for the 2025 program. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applications can be submitted online through our website until the deadline. Online submission is preferred. Please ensure all documents are prepared in PDF format before starting the application.

Once received, applications will be reviewed to confirm minimum requirements have been met. Applicants will be notified via email regarding next steps. Please check your inbox as well as spam/junk folders.

Applications received after December 31, 2024 will be considered for the 2026 apprentice program.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 17 years of age. (Provide birth certificate)
• Must be a high school graduate, GED holder, or a senior on track to graduate. Must have at least one year of algebra or geometry with a passing grade. (Provide transcripts and diploma/GED or proof of graduation)
• Must provide a valid State of Illinois driver's license
• Provide Military Discharge Form DD-214 if applicable
• All required documents must be submitted to qualify for testing
• Applicants who meet minimum aptitude test scores will be eligible for an interview
• HVAC applicants must have at least one year of HVAC trade school and provide transcripts, diploma, or proof of enrollment
